According to NRS 171.153, anyone arrested in the state of Nevada has the right to make a reasonable number of completed phone calls from the police station or other booking location. And these calls must be allowed as soon as reasonably possible—and no later than three hours after arrest, unless physically impossible.
Here’s what the law specifically provides:
- One completed call to a friend or bail agent
- One completed call to an attorney
These calls are typically limited to local numbers, but long-distance calls are allowed at the arrested person’s own expense.
This right is critical, especially in the first few hours after an arrest when decisions made (or not made) can significantly affect the outcome of your case. Whether you're trying to get out of jail quickly, secure legal representation, or simply inform someone of your situation, knowing that you are legally entitled to two phone calls can make a major difference.
Why does this matter?
Because any delay in contacting a lawyer can limit your legal protections. At Pandullo Law, we’ve helped countless clients after arrest—often starting with that first phone call.
If you or a loved one has been arrested in Las Vegas, don’t wait. You have rights, and we can help you assert them.
